Travel Tips for Introverts

Traveling isn’t an inherently extroverted activity. However, there are certain parts of traveling that can require more socialization than others. As an introvert, that can be daunting, especially if you don’t have the right tools in your belt to get through the experience without feeling completely drained. Luckily, at JP Travel, we cater to all types of people, including introverts who want to experience the world, but don’t want to have to deal with tons of people or social interactions. In today’s post, we’re going to discuss a few tips that introverted travelers can use if they are traveling solo.

If you’re in need of help planning your next solo, group, or family trip, JP Travel is here to help! We offer travel agent services and can help you cross every destination off your travel bucket list. Reach out to our travel agency today to request a quote or start planning your next adventure!

Take Advantage of Slow Travel

When you start planning a trip to a place you’ve never been before, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and try to fit as much into the time you have as you possibly can. However, that can leave you feeling exhausted and result in not much time to actually enjoy or reflect on the experience.

Instead, it’s better to take advantage of slow travel. What this means is instead of trying to go to as many places as possible or see and do as much as you can, try traveling less and seeing more. For example, instead of spending two or three days in multiple places, try spending a week in each. Instead of visiting multiple sights in one day, give each sight its own day, and spend as much time as you can there, giving yourself the opportunity to take your time and really enjoy the experience.

Avoid Group Tours

Guided tours are great, but as an introvert, guided tours can be more of a burden than a benefit. If you’re looking to avoid hustle and bustle or having to fight through a bunch of strangers to actually enjoy the experience, then group tours are not for you. Instead, consider spending a little extra on a private tour! This way, you can guarantee that it’s just you and your guide, so you’ll be able to hear the information and enjoy the tour at your pace. Another option is to look for audio tours. A lot of tour companies offer audio guides for popular attractions, allowing you to tour at your own pace, as well as tune out other tourists — it’s a win-win!

The Right Accommodation Is Everything

Accommodations can make or break your travel experience in any situation, but this is especially the case if you’re an introvert.

As you begin planning your trip, consider what you’re looking to get out of your accommodations. Are you looking for a peaceful sanctuary where you can recharge after a busy day of sightseeing? Are you wanting a place where you can easily meet other travelers and possibly make friends? Are you looking for something in between? Ask yourself these questions and determine what you’re wanting to get out of your accommodation, and then work with JP Travel or another travel agent to help find an accommodation that will be the perfect fit for you!

Write In a Journal

One of the most difficult parts about traveling solo is that there isn’t always someone easily accessible to talk to about your experiences or reflect on your travels, which can be an essential part of getting the full enjoyment out of the trip. An easy way to bypass this obstacle is to write in a journal. Instead of calling home and worrying about the time difference (if there is one), you can carry a journal and write about your experiences in real time. Not only can this help to get your thoughts and feelings out of your head, but it can also be a great way to remember your trip!

Another benefit of writing in a journal is that it gives you a chance to take some downtime amidst your adventures. Consider bringing your journal with you wherever you go, and when you feel a hankering to start writing, find a local coffee shop or cafe where you can sit, write, enjoy a snack, and possibly even people-watch for a while. It’s a great way to recharge without having to call it quits for the day.
